My father actually remembers how to play poker and 21, and he keeps track of the numbers.
When we play with actual decks of cards, he plays both poker and 21, switching back and forth with no problem. Athough he's not always "up" for playing with cards, he's always happy to play his electronic games.
I've bought him many of these over the years. He has this thing about taking the top off the battery case and losing it. I bought him an electronic 21 with a screw-off battery case top, but that one disappeared.
My father died peacefully on February 6, 2012. I had arrived a few hours before he died, so I had time to sit by him and talk and even moisten his lips with the long-promised scotch I had with me. I don't know if he heard me, but he smacked his lips from the scotch, My father had Alzheimer's and had donated his brain to the Alzheimer's study he'd been part of at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. I'll continue to post for a while.
