Here the mini-fridge is freshly stocked with stuff my dad likes: little fruit cocktails, applesauces (all sorts of flavors these days), whole milk yogurt (only available as "organic for babies"), .
Not in the fridge: sardines, salmon, tuna in oil. cookies, little muffins, etc.
I just discovered that he has a drawer that locks, so I put the extras into lockup. People help themselves, and at least this way it'll last a bit longer.
The fridge was the social worker's idea: my father was "stealing" from the fridge in the dining room because he was hungry all the time. He's still hungry all the time.
My father died peacefully on February 6, 2012. I had arrived a few hours before he died, so I had time to sit by him and talk and even moisten his lips with the long-promised scotch I had with me. I don't know if he heard me, but he smacked his lips from the scotch, My father had Alzheimer's and had donated his brain to the Alzheimer's study he'd been part of at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. I'll continue to post for a while.
